As the cold and flu begin to make their yearly rounds, they bring with them every parent’s biggest fear, fever. The fear of brain damage or the melting of the brain itself brings parents to the emergency room in droves. So, let’s set the record straight. Fever is not bad.
When a person becomes sick with a cold or the flu, the body raises its core temperature in an effort to kill the virus. The virus cannot survive when the temperature is too hot. This is the body’s natural mechanism of healing. Fever demonstrates that an individual has a strong immune system and that they’re a fighter. Yay!!!! To learn more about fever watch the Fabulous Me campaign’s fever video series starting with, “The Melt Down” and followed by “Let’s Talk About The ‘F’ word”.
